Canadian mortgage and RE study

From 2000- 2010, US and Canada RE markets follow its own paths. But now, both of them double the price — different paths, same destination!

Canada per person debt load is 40% income; 2nd highest only after US (I don’t know why UK is not there). Adding the fact CAD is not reserve currency, high personal income tax and strict underwritting standard, how come Canada market did not experience a crash? In fact, Canada market ran up 20% or more. HST was driving it, but hard to imagine the broad scale.

I will RE: this post with a few links to get some background information to: 1) understand Canada mtg products, mkt and how banks manage the ptf and risks; 2) “agencies” in play; 3) outlook of Canada market.
